This is the page for updates on what's happening with VIOLENT TRUE BELIEVER.

May 5, 2022 - The Orwellian ass wipes at YouTube emailed today to inform us that the first official trailer for VTB has been banned! I guess this means we made a really good movie. Their reason was that we violated their "Misinformation" policy. But the arrogant pricks won't actually tell us specifically WHAT is wrong. They wouldn't feel powerful and God-like if they had to do that!

Screw YouTube! I'm tickled about it. I've been chuckling about it all day because it apparently means we pushed somebody's buttons. Nevertheless, it took only an hour to pull our remaining clips and post the trailer on a new page at VIMEO--with much better video quality and superior sound. Also, ironic I guess that it's most likely the use of audio in the movie taken from a speech by President Trump that caused YT to ban our trailer. Little do the morons realize that we got the audio FROM YOU TUBE! Yeah. I mean it IS a speech by an actual President of the United States!

April 22, 2022 - I'm continuing to edit the film. We're down to a running time of 18:40.

For those wondering--I'm cutting the movie on Adobe's Premiere Pro CC 2022. Occasionally, I am going outside Premiere to Cakewalk to work on the music which I'm composing myself. Check out the MUSIC page for more on that.

March 17, 2022 - Many hours last were spent laying in more sound effects. A "ding" for a scene in an elevator! A smacking sound when an extension cord is thrown down on a hardwood floor! Crazy. But it makes the movie come alive. What's fun is to turn off all the dialogue tracks and music and just play the whole movie with nothing but sound effects! Kind of surreal.

March 14, 2022 - Edited all weekend. Had a printed list of 65 different "issues" that needed to be addressed. Fixed. Most of them were taken care of but continued to tweak things. Every time I work on the film the running time comes down a few seconds. Just tightening things up.

March 10, 2022 - Decided not to use the Mozart Requiem music. And the Moby tracks we licensed keep triggering YouTube to shoot us a copyright violation notice even though we legally licensed those. So, it looks like the soundtrack will be mine to compose. Original score. More work to do!

February 12, 2022 - It's been a while. But editing is kinda like that! It takes a huge amount of time. But we're now in the 3rd full week of seriously cutting the movie and things are going great. Amazing how every time I sit down to work on the film it ends up, bit by bit, getting better. Hang in there. Things ARE progressing. Beginning to think about a release date and festival plans!

December 19, 2021 - Last day of principal shooting for J.C. She and Arlin spent over an hour applying makeup to create the right look for the film's climactic ending.  Layers of grease paint and Fuller's Earth was used to create a dusty look. Shooting did not take very long...but makeup and showering after definitely did. Afterward, a small "wrap party" was held on the rooftop of Arlin's building in downtown DC.

December 12, 2021 - Actor J.C. Hoffman and Director Arlin Godwin completed several missing shots and scenes on this date. Then got on a Washington DC Metro train at McPherson Station to shoot an important shot that's part of the film's ending. We got off at Rosslyn Station across the Potomac River after one attempt to get the shots needed---then returned to DC on a different train and succeeded in getting the footage.

December 10, 2021 - Got permission (and a license) today for 3 tracks from electronic music artist Moby.  One of those is an actual song and will play under some intense scenes toward the middle and end of the film. The other two are instrumentals that will show up at other important points in the story. Thank you, Moby!

November 28, 2021 - Arlin and J.C. finally shot the last big scene in the movie. This sequence took close to 5 hours to shoot and generated over an hour of new footage. It began with shots inside a small apartment kitchen, moved through a bedroom area, and ended up inside a walk-in closet. Hours of fairly cramped conditions. But some really good footage.
